In 2021, the largest age group in Ward 1 was 35 to 39 year olds. The group that changed the most since 2016 was 35 to 39 year olds, increasing by 3,756 people.

Dominant groups

Analysis of the five year age groups of Ward 1 in 2021 compared to Blacktown City shows that there was a higher proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) and a lower proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).

Overall, 25.1% of the population was aged between 0 and 15, and 7.5% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 22.7% and 11.0% respectively for Blacktown City.

The major differences between the age structure of Ward 1 and Blacktown City were:

  • A larger percentage of persons aged 35 to 39 (11.2% compared to 9.2%)
  • A larger percentage of persons aged 40 to 44 (9.5% compared to 7.8%)
  • A larger percentage of persons aged 5 to 9 (9.0% compared to 7.9%)

The largest changes in age structure in this area between 2016 and 2021 were in the age groups:

  • 35 to 39 (+3,756 persons)
  • 40 to 44 (+3,073 persons)
  • 10 to 14 (+2,662 persons)
  • 5 to 9 (+2,406 persons)
