Dominant groups
Analysis of the need for assistance of people in the MidCoast Council compared to MidCoast Council area shows that there was a lower proportion of people who reported needing assistance with core activities.
Overall, 7.7% of the population reported needing assistance with core activities, compared with 9.0% for MidCoast Council area.
The major differences in the age groups reporting a need for assistance in Wingham and surrounds and MidCoast Council area were:
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 80 to 84 (16.1% compared to 23.9%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 10 to 19 (2.7% compared to 5.2%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 20 to 59 (3.2% compared to 5.3%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 65 to 69 (5.8% compared to 7.9%)
