Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Balmain in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (1,123 people or 19.7%)
  • Financial and Insurance Services (690 people or 12.1%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (564 people or 9.9%)

In combination, these three industries employed 2,377 people in total or 41.7% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Inner West Council area employed 15.8% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; 8.1% in Financial and Insurance Services; and 12.5% in Health Care and Social Assistance.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Balmain and Inner West Council area were:
